Connecting an Epson Printer to WiFi

Epson Smart Panel replaced the older Epson iPrint app and streamlines wireless setup considerably compared to using the printer's panel alone.

Symptoms to look for

  • Printer doesn't appear in Epson Smart Panel during setup
  • WiFi indicator flashes without ever turning solid
  • Setup succeeds but printer shows offline shortly after

What causes it

Band mismatch (5GHz-only networks), router firewall settings blocking new device discovery, and outdated printer firmware are the most frequent causes.

How to fix it

  1. Download Epson Smart Panel on your phone.
  2. Start WiFi setup mode from the printer's panel menu.
  3. Connect to your network's 2.4GHz band specifically.
  4. Complete pairing in the app and install drivers on any additional devices.
  5. Print a network status sheet from the panel to confirm the connection details.
Technician's tip

If the printer keeps going offline shortly after setup, check your router's DHCP lease time — a short lease can drop the printer's saved IP within hours.
